April was a bloody good month on Prime Video, with the final season of The Boys dominating the Global Top 10, and a couple of movies—Chris Hemsworth’s heist thriller Crime 101 and Mark Wahlberg’s raunchy comedy Balls Up—topping the movie charts for the streamer.

But don’t expect things to slow down for May, which has a handful of strong titles on tap, as well as one heck of a May 20, when the series finale of The Boys collides with John Krasinski’s new Jack Ryan sequel movie. Add to that a new season of the jet-setting spy series Citadel, a fond farewell to Good Omens, and (saving the best for last) Nicolas Cage’s pulpy and cool Spider-Noir series at the end of the month.

May is shaping up quite nicely. Here are my top picks of what’s coming to Prime Video in the U.S., and scroll down for the complete list of all the new licensed movies streaming starting May 1st as well.

Citadel, Season 2 (May 6)

The Russo brothers’ spy saga returns

It’s been three long years since the Russo brothers’ sexy spy thriller, Citadel, debuted, and finally, it’s back for a second season. But let’s recap, shall we? When we left the Citadel operatives, a ton of stuff went down: Mason Kane (Game of Thrones‘ Richard Madden) learns that his mother is Manticore’s baddie Dahlia Archer (Lesley Manville, The Crown), and that he’s fathered a child with fellow operative Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), the brains behind Citadel, is still being held by Manticore, and his whereabouts are unknown. Of course, there are a few other revelations, but that will do for those who haven’t seen season one.

Season two, however, picks up one month later, reuniting the remaining Citadel operatives, and a swath of new faces, to pick up the pieces in time to face off against a new threat—a Manticore-aligned Brazilian tech billionaire (Ferrari’s Gabriel Leone)—and Dahlia, who’s out for revenge.

Good Omens, Season 3 (May 13)

Aziraphale and Crowley face the end, together

Despite the “Season 3” label, this much-anticipated finale of Prime’s popular supernatural buddy comedy, Good Omens, is actually a 90-minute movie that reunites our favorite angel-demon pals one last time. Picking up after Season 2’s gut-punch of a finale, where we saw Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) return to heaven, and Crowley (David Tennant) left on his own on Earth, where he’s wandering around in the gutters of Soho, depressed.

A steamy college romance series

For those waiting patiently for Prime Video to adapt Elle Kennedy’s bestselling series of Off Campus new adult sports romance novels, the wait ends May 13. Set at the fictional Briar University, season one delves into Kennedy’s first novel, The Deal, where we follow Hannah Wells (Ella Bright, The Crown), a quiet music major with a huge crush on hot indie musician Justin (Dune: Prophecy‘s Josh Heuston), but Justin doesn’t know she exists.

To remedy that situation, Hannah enlists the help of hotshot hockey player Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), whom she agrees to tutor in exchange for his services in making Justin jealous by way of them pretending they’re an item. By the rules of all rom-coms ever, you can guess where this will go, and judging by the trailer, it’s going to be a steamy ride getting there.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War (May 20)

Krasinski returns in this feature-length Clancy thrill ride

Oh boy, it’s good to see John Krasinski back in action as Tom Clancy’s quiet-but-deadly CIA analyst-turned-deputy director, Jack Ryan, in this feature-length sequel to Prime Video’s excellent series, which ended in 2023. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War premieres on Prime on May 20, the same day as the series finale of The Boys, making it a great day for streaming. The real-time movie sees Ryan reluctantly dragged out of retirement to deal with a deadly black-ops unit called Starling that’s gone rogue and must be shut down.

Ryan calls on his core team to help, including his lifelong mentor and friend, James Greer (Wendell Pierce, The Wire), and operative Mike November (Michael Kelly, House of Cards), as well as some new blood in the form of badass MI6 agent Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller, American Sniper).

Spider-Noir, Season 1 (May 27)

Nicola Cage’s dark and moody webslinger finally arrives

Easily the most anticipated title to hit Prime Video this month, Spider-Noir is going to be a visual feast and action-filled thrill ride, and I can’t wait for May 27 (a few days earlier, if you have MGM+). Spinning off the moody, black-and-white character from Marvel’s Spider-Noir comics and the animated Spider-Verse movies (that Cage voiced), Nicolas Cage stars in this live-action series as Ben Reilly, an aging, hard-boiled private eye living in Depression-era New York. Ben, still grappling with personal tragedy, has long since hung up his webslingers and mask as the city’s vigilante hero, “The Spider.” But when a new missing person case lands on his desk, and a deep underworld conspiracy is uncovered, Ben is forced to confront his past and has no choice but to put the mask on again.

The stellar cast is rounded out by Lamorne Morris (Fargo), who plays journalist Robbie Robertson; Li Jun Li (Sinners), as nightclub singer Cat Hardy; and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), as crime boss Silvermane. Most intriguingly, Spider-Noir will stream in both black-and-white and a more stylized, vivid color option called Tru-Hue, which we wrote about earlier this year.
