iPhone 18e will still not get a ProMotion or Always On screen

A new report by a relatively accurate leaker claims to have display specifications for multiple forthcoming iPhones, and they show the iPhone 18e will still not have ProMotion or Always On.

Backing up part of a previous report about the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, this new claim by leaker Digital Chat Station says the two will have different screen technologies. Writing on Chinese social media site Weibo, the leaker lists:

  • iPhone 18 with 6.3-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED
  • iPhone 18e with 6.12-inch 60Hz LTPO OLED

The 60Hz speed of the iPhone 18e screen means no ProMotion or Always On. ProMotion is the feature that can speed up a display to 120Hz, or ramp it down to 1Hz, to suit what the user is doing.

It means that the iPhone feels much more responsive in games or when watching video. But it also doesn’t need to take up battery power by running that quickly when a user is reading a static page, or having the time always displayed.

There has been a rumor that claimed all iPhone 18 models would get a small dynamic island. It wasn’t clear if that was supposed to include iPhone 18e, but it was clear that the rumor was optimistic at best.

Otherwise, the rest of the leaked screen specifications appear to be identical to those of current models. The screen sizes differ from Apple’s descriptions, but only by the same margins that the company currently rounds the size up or down.

In the same report, Digital Chat Station also posted about the iPhone Air 2, saying it would have a 6.55-inch screen with 120Hz LTPO OLED.

iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone Ultra 2

Digital Chat Station also included a mention of the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone Ultra 2, although this time not about screen size or type. Instead, the leaker claims that claiming that Apple has reached the stage of testing molds of the chassis.

However, Digital Chat Station also recently claimed that the iPhone Ultra 2 would feature the same screen size as the first model. The iPhone Ultra, or iPhone Fold, is currently expected to be launched alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September. Note that while the leaker has a reasonably strong track record, none of these claims will be proven until Apple launches these models.
