We’ve reached the last weekend in May, meaning all the shows that premiere on June 1 or later will compete at the 2027 Emmys rather than the 2026 ceremony in the fall. Keep in mind that the high-profile shows of June, including Cape Fear on Apple TV and House of the Dragon on HBO Max, are ones to keep an eye on.
I’m unsure if these new shows debuting this week will be contenders at the 2026 Emmys. Regardless, several of the shows have caught my attention, including a Spider-Man show featuring an eccentric Hollywood actor, which is my top pick of the week. Other notable shows include the return of a Tina Fey ensemble comedy and an Apple TV spin-off to a beloved sci-fi drama.

Deli Boys season 2
An entertaining crime comedy
Deli Boys was one of the surprise shows of 2025. Created by Abdullah Saeed, Deli Boys is a crime comedy about two brothers — Mir Dar (Asif Ali) and Raj Dar (Saagar Shaikh) — thrust into the criminal underworld after their father’s death. The unlikely duo must now look after their father’s drug empire, Dark DarCo, along with his successful chain of delis.
Season 2 sees Mir and Dar loving their newfound wealth, but now, they must learn how to better launder their money. With the help of Lucky (Poorna Jagannathan), the boys go into business with the eccentric casino owner Max Sugar, played by the hilarious Fred Armisen. What I appreciate about Deli Boys is that it embraces its comedic roots. It’s a genuine comedy — you can’t help but laugh at these absurd situations.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2
A new mystery for Pip
Netflix loves its teenage sleuths. Wednesday, Enola Holmes, and Dead Boy Detectives all featured popular teenage protagonists tackling enigmatic cases. Add A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and its main character, Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers), to the list of amateur investigators at the streamer.
In season 1, Pip figures out what happened to Andie Bell, who disappeared without a trace five years earlier. Season 2 has Pip dealing with the aftermath of solving the case. However, Pip gets dragged into another case when a key witness in an upcoming trial goes missing. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a lighter version of a murder mystery. It’s aimed at young adults, but it can be enjoyed by all ages, especially if you enjoy book-to-screen adaptations.
All six episodes of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2 are available to stream on Netflix.

Star City
For All Mankind spin-off
On the list of the most underrated shows on television is For All Mankind, Apple TV’s sci-fi drama that presents an alternate version of the events following the space race. After the Soviet Union puts cosmonauts on the moon, the United States attempts to do the same, with the space race continuing for decades afterward.
Now it’s time to learn what happened during that first lunar landing from the side of the Soviets in Star City, a spin-off of For All Mankind. Rhys Ifans stars as the chief designer of the Soviet space program. Because it goes back to the beginning and traces the story from the Soviet perspective, you don’t necessarily need to watch For All Mankind to enjoy Star City. Frankly, those are the best spin-offs — no homework required.

The Four Seasons season 2
Same group, different problems
Tina Fey has a gift for getting talented people in a room together and creating magic. After becoming a household name on Saturday Night Live, Fey created 30 Rock, which had a legendary run on NBC and starred Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer. Fey is now taking her talents to Netflix for the return of The Four Seasons.
Put Fey, Will Forte, Steve Carell, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Colman Domingo in one room, and you’re going to generate some laughs. The series follows a group of friends who vacation together throughout the year. The more time they spend together, the more they realize their lives are far from perfect. Season 2 follows the group in the aftermath of a tragic death, which I won’t reveal at this moment. This show delivers good vibes. You travel to a pretty place with funny people and see the hilarity. Sounds like a grand old time.

Spider-Noir
Nicolas Cage headlines this detective show
Nicolas Cage is Spider-Man. Honestly, that absurd line feels like something Cage would say. It gives off the same ridiculous feeling as “I’m going to steal the Declaration of Independence.” However, this isn’t National Treasure. It’s Spider-Noir, a detective show set in a superhero universe.
Cage plays Ben Reilly, a New York City private investigator working in the 1930s. Reilly’s alter ego is The Spider, a version of Spider-Man. Reilly hasn’t put on the mask for five years, but a new case brings him back into the fold. Just listen to this quote. Cage said he modeled his performance as 70% Humphrey Bogart and 30% Bugs Bunny. If that doesn’t pique your interest, nothing will.
