Hulu appreciates comedy. Across movies, TV shows, and stand-up specials, Hulu has a wide selection of programs to make you laugh. One of Hulu’s newest shows that premiered this month is Not Suitable for Work, an amusing comedy from Mindy Kaling about young professionals trying to make it in New York City.
If you head to the movies section of Hulu, you can check out the comedy hub to find many hilarious movies from the past and present. I’ve highlighted four comedies to watch this month, with my top pick back in the news due to a successful sequel that came out last month.

Big Daddy
Adam Sandler becomes a family man
As someone born in the 1990s, Adam Sandler is an important figure in my comedic upbringing. From Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore to The Waterboy and The Wedding Singer, the Sandman provided countless laughs during my childhood. Out of all his hits from the 1990s, Big Daddy holds a special place in my heart. It’s beloved by my entire family and proved Sandler could make comedies for all ages, carving out a comedic niche he would dominate for the next decade.
New York City resident Sonny Koufax (Sandler) is a lazy toll booth employee who slacks off most of the week. His life changes when five-year-old Julian McGrath (Dylan and Cole Sprouse) is dropped off at his doorstep. Julian is technically the son of his roommate Kevin Gerrity (Jon Stewart), but Sonny adopts him as his own, believing it will help him win back his ex-girlfriend. It’s arguably Sandler’s most endearing movie and the one that will certainly make your family crack up.

Toy Story
To infinity and beyond!
Some of you might push back against the idea that Toy Story is a comedy. To that, I would say that I found Toy Story in the trending comedy section on Hulu. It’s categorized as an animated adventure comedy, so I’m including it in this month’s round-up. Plus, what better way to prepare for Toy Story 5 than by revisiting the original?
In Pixar’s first feature-length movie, the toys belonging to a young boy named Andy come to life when he’s not around. The toys include Sheriff Woody (Tom Hanks), Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Bo Peep (Annie Potts), and Slinky Dog (Jim Varney). On his birthday, Andy gets a new action figure, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who believes he’s a real Space Ranger and becomes Woody’s rival. Over 30 years after its release, Toy Story is still the gold standard for Pixar films, an ingenious addition to the history of animated movies.

Mrs. Doubtfire
Robin Williams becomes the nanny
In my best Euphegenia Doubtfire voice, “Helloooo, dear.” I miss Robin Williams. The genius comedian could do it all as an actor. He could make you happy, cry, and, most importantly, laugh. Williams was a special talent whose chaotic energy brought films to life. One of his movies that I hold close to my heart is Mrs. Doubtfire.
Daniel Hillard (Williams) is a struggling voice actor whose life comes to a screeching halt when his wife, Miranda (Sally Field), asks for a divorce. Miranda is granted primary custody of their three children, much to the dismay of Daniel. Desperate to see his kids, Daniel poses as Euphegenia Doubtfire, a British nanny who “specializes in the education and entertainment of children.” Mrs. Doubtfire becomes an integral part of the children’s lives and even grows closer to Miranda. This movie inspired so many bits and quotes that I couldn’t name them all. This is a heat-check performance from Williams, whose undeniable charm carries this cherished comedy.

The Devil Wears Prada
Details of your incompetence do not interest me!
To prepare for The Devil Wears Prada 2, I recently rewatched The Devil Wears Prada on a flight. (Don’t tell Christopher Nolan.) Let me tell you, it’s still a delight from start to finish. The music, clothing, and Andy’s multiple hats jump off the screen. Andy Sachs (Hathaway) is an aspiring journalist who takes a job at Runway magazine as an assistant for editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep), a stylish dictator-like figure who strikes fear into the hearts of those who come across her path.
Miranda puts Andy through hell and back again, but the young assistant manages to survive longer than anticipated. Considering The Devil Wears Prada 2 has grossed over $665 million worldwide, I’m predicting a third movie to be announced within the next couple of years.
More Hulu content to watch
Hulu continues to expand its library with quality movies and TV shows. If you’re searching for Oscar-winning movies on Hulu, look no further than Sentimental Value and Black Panther. If you need a bingeable show to watch this weekend, try The Testaments or Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair.
