Hulu tends to fly under the radar next to its flashier rivals like Netflix and Prime Video (it also pumps out fewer titles each month), but tucked inside that Disney+ bundle is one of the best catalogs in streaming, including stunning FX shows like Alien: Earth and The Bear, a bottomless true-crime well, comedies, thrillers, and more.
Hulu and Disney+ recently released their entire June lineup, but for this weekend—June 5 to 7—I’ve pulled together some new and returning shows sure to impress. There’s a brand-new Manhattan workplace comedy that feels like Friends for Gen Z, a new season of Welcome to Wrexham, and a gleefully chaotic crime caper.

Not Suitable for Work
Five ambitious twentysomethings making their way in New York
After watching the first three episodes of Mindy Kaling’s new workplace comedy Not Suitable for Work, I can say that while the comparisons to iconic hangout sitcom Friends are not unfounded, there’s more to this new Hulu series than meets the eye. Not Suitable for Work sets the stage early on, teasing the almost serendipitous intertwining lives of five twentysomethings, all living in the same New York apartment building, each at the beginning of the rest of their lives.
In one apartment are the boys: finance guy Davis (Will Angus), self-righteous nepo-baby and wanna-be actor Josh (Jack Martin), and med-school dropout/actor Kel (Nicholas Duvernay). Across the hall (yep) are the girls: AJ (Ella Hunt), a financial analyst starting a new job, and Abby (Avantika), a young fashion stylist to the stars. Let the delicious intertwining commence then! As early as episode one, we learn—lovelorn Davis falls head over heels for AJ, before learning that not only does she work with him, but she lives across the hall; AJ had a one-night stand with Josh during a Botswana retreat, and Josh doesn’t remember her; Kel has a thing for Abby, and Josh may have a thing for AJ. Chef’s kiss.
While Not Suitable for Work does have a Friends vibe—it’s funny, and the chemistry between the characters is there—I do like how it isn’t anchored around the apartment or a coffee shop, but ventures out into the worlds of each of them. I’m looking forward to seeing where this one goes. The first three episodes are streaming on Hulu, with two more each week through June 23.

Correct! Shogun’s 2024 Hulu adaptation was a massive hit, winning the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. It stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis and was praised for its authentic portrayal of feudal Japanese culture.
The answer is Shogun. The 2024 Hulu miniseries adaptation of James Clavell’s classic novel won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series and became one of the most-watched shows on the platform, celebrated for its stunning production and performances.
Based on a Margaret Atwood novel, this Hulu original is set in the theocratic nation of Gilead, where women are stripped of their rights and forced into servitude. What is the show?
Correct! The Handmaid’s Tale debuted in 2017 and became one of Hulu’s defining original series. Starring Elisabeth Moss as Offred, it was the first streaming series ever to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.
Not quite — it’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Adapted from Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, this Hulu drama made history as the first streaming show to win Outstanding Drama at the Emmys, and it spawned a sequel series called The Testaments.
This comedic murder mystery series is set in a New York City apartment building, stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as true crime podcast hosts, and streams on Hulu. What show is it?
Correct! Only Murders in the Building premiered in 2021 and became one of Hulu’s most beloved comedies. The chemistry between Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez has earned the show widespread acclaim and multiple Emmy nominations.
The answer is Only Murders in the Building. This Hulu gem blends comedy and mystery in a New York City high-rise called the Arconia. It’s become a franchise-level hit for the platform, with new celebrity guest stars each season keeping things fresh.
This Canadian comedy series is a spin-off of Letterkenny, follows an extremely foul-mouthed minor league hockey player who never stops talking trash on the ice, and streams on Hulu in the US. What show is it?

This Hulu thriller stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as married spies who discover they are both undercover agents working for opposing agencies. What is the show called?
Correct! Mr. & Mrs. Smith premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2024, but it’s worth noting Donald Glover’s spy projects have generated significant buzz. However, as a trick — this show actually aired on Prime Video, not Hulu! Always double-check the platform.
Careful — Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine actually streamed on Amazon Prime Video, not Hulu! It’s a common mix-up. Hulu has plenty of great thrillers, but this one belonged to a rival platform when it launched in 2024.
This Hulu sci-fi series is based on a Joseph Heller novel, stars Christopher Abbott and George Clooney, and satirizes the absurdity of military bureaucracy during World War II. What show is it?

This Hulu dark comedy stars Aubrey Plaza as a con artist who worms her way into the life of a wealthy widow, and was created by the team behind The White Lotus. What show is it?
Correct! The Great is a Hulu original dark comedy that stars Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great and Nicholas Hoult as Tsar Peter III. It’s a wildly anarchic and fictionalized account of Catherine’s rise to power, created by Tony McNamara. Aubrey Plaza is not actually in this show!
Tricky one! The Great is a Hulu dark comedy, but it stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult — not Aubrey Plaza. Created by Tony McNamara, it follows a satirical and gleefully inaccurate version of Catherine the Great’s rise to power in imperial Russia, and it’s been a cult favorite since 2020.

Season 5 is currently underway, and covers Wrexham’s first season in the EFL Championship. The football is on another level, but the lads are up for the challenge as we watch Ryan, Rob, and their teams, both on and off the pitch, adapt and work hard to compete. Some players are let go, massive amounts are spent on new, higher-level additions, and the infrastructure of the whole organization is making adjustments, all for the good of the club. Welcome to Wrexham has won 10 Emmy Awards and has already been renewed through season eight. Watch it all on Hulu.

Deli Boys (Season 2)
The brothers are hilariously dragged further into the criminal underworld
Deli Boys is just a ton of wild, hilarious, crime-family fun, and season two of the critically-acclaimed Hulu series doesn’t let up in the least—it actually ramps up, especially in season two. But for the uninitiated, Deli Boys is a Hulu half-hour crime comedy that follows Pakistani-American brothers Mir (Asif Ali) and Raj Dar (Saagar Shaikh), who find themselves embroiled in the secret criminal organization their late father ran through the family’s chain of Philadelphia convenience stores.
It’s a hilarious fish-out-of-water series as the spoiled-rotten brothers, under the guidance of their hilariously ruthless “Auntie” Lucky (Poorna Jagannathan, who makes the show), learn the ropes of the family cocaine empire, which may or may not involve battling other crime bosses, bribing people, and occasionally killing someone. All of season two is now available to stream, and features some awesome new faces, including Fred Armisen as a casino owner helping them launder their money, Andrew Rannels as a Phill DA trying to take the brothers down, and Kumail Nanjiani, as a shady lawyer. Deli Boys has an 87% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
