BMW has announced the U.S. pricing and release date for the 2027 iX3, including a pleasant range boost for the electric SUV.
This first Neue Klasse design will reach customers on September 25th starting at $61,500 (plus $1,350 destination fee) for the lone iX3 50 xDrive configuration. Reservations available now with a $1,000 deposit. The trim level includes core features like an 800V architecture (with support for up to 400kW fast charging), BMW’s Panoramic Vision across-the-dash display, digital key support, and driver aids like active cruise control and lane assistance.
How BMW Takes the Fight To Tesla With the New 2026 iX3
BMW has just revealed its all-new 2026 iX3, a sleek electric SUV designed to rival Tesla with cutting-edge tech, bold design, and impressive range.
The range is the real highlight. While BMW originally predicted a 400-mile range for the U.S. iX3 model, it has confirmed a previous hint that the EPA-estimated range is a significantly longer 434 miles. The automaker tells How-To Geek that the improvement comes down to testing methodologies: BMW made a preliminary estimate using the EPA’s testing standards, but is getting the improved figures from the agency’s “own testing.”
You do need to choose the right tires. The maximum range is only possible with 20-inch summer tires available as a no-cost option. The standard 20-inch all-season tires deliver 383 miles, while the optional 21- and 22-inch tires provide slightly under 400 miles. This is common for many EVs, but worth noting if you want the claimed range.
Whichever trim you get, BMW still says you can add up to 185 miles of range when charging at an 800V-friendly station, or climb from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes.
2027 BMW iX3 option packages
Only a few options packages are available for the 2027 BMW iX3, but they can be important depending on the technology you expect.
You’ll need to pay $2,500 for a Driving Assistance Professional Package if you want more assistance tech for highways, commuting, traffic jams, and active lane changing. An upgraded Parking Assistant Package with a 3D view adds $750. To get BMW’s heads-up display, you’ll need to spend $1,900 on a Technology Package that also includes external glow lighting and a premium Harmon/Kardon audio system.
Other options are more cosmetic and include a $1,500 Comfort Package (heated steering wheel, glass roof, and multi-function seats), a $2,500 M Sport package with sportier wheels and steering, and a $4,000 M Sport Professional Package that combines the regular package with glow lighting and sport brakes.

How the 2027 iX3 price compares
It could be slightly more expensive than the Audi
While the competition hasn’t necessarily provided U.S. pricing, the initial figures suggest BMW should be at least competitive with other 2027 EVs in its segment.
Audi’s 2027 Q4 e-tron is poised to start at the equivalent of nearly $55,700 in Europe, while the 2026 model is currently selling for $50,600 in the States. That could make the iX3 considerably more expensive, but it also boasts considerably longer range (Audi estimates 368 miles for the Q4 with optimistic WLTP testing) and more included in-cabin tech.
Mercedes and Tesla provide less direct equivalents. The 2027 electric GLB due this fall should offer better pricing, but might fall short on range (392 miles in WLTP testing). The larger GLC should cost as much or more, but may still peak at 392 miles of WLTP-estimated range. The Tesla Model Y Premium starts well below the iX3, but also has less included technology and, again, shorter range.
Personal preferences also matter
There’s also the question of individual tastes. BMW is counting on its retro-influenced yet modern Neue Klasse style to draw attention where Audi and Mercedes are relatively conservative. Likewise, BMW still has its reputation as the “ultimate driving machine” where Audi and Mercedes focus more on comfort. It may be worth waiting for definitive driving tests before committing to any of these electric SUVs.
