T-Mobile is giving 5G customers Hulu and Netflix subscriptions, free – here’s how to get them

Great news for T-Mobile customers — if you’ve got an Experience Beyond or Go5G Next plan, Hulu with ads is now automatically included as a free benefit, along with Netflix. Customers on the new Better Value phone plan and the All-In Home Internet plan also get Hulu and Netflix.

T-Mobile has a reputation for being an affordable phone and internet provider, offering a ton of coverage without breaking the bank — especially if you enroll in one of the new Better Value family plans. (Plus, special discounts are available to first responders, those in the military, and people 55 years and older.)

T-Mobile’s Experience Beyond plan offers a ton of perks and features, including an upgrade every year, T-Satellite, unlimited premium data and mobile hotspot capabilities, up to 4K UHD video streaming, and unlimited text and 30GB of high-speed data in Canada and Mexico, with 15GB of high-speed data in over 215 other countries. The plan also includes the ability to add watch or tablet lines for $5 per month, Apple TV for $3, and now, Netflix and Hulu for free. 

Adding the autopay discount, the Experience Beyond plan costs $170/month for three phone lines, $215/month for four, and $260/month for five, with each plan protected by a five-year price guarantee. However, ZDNET managing editor Alison DeNisco Rayome found that the price “excludes taxes, surcharges, and fees, including a device connection charge of up to $35 per line.” 

It’s important to note that the free Hulu subscription is also available to customers on T-Mobile’s Go5G Next plan, but Experience Beyond is essentially the latest rebranding of Go5G Next.

A significant benefit of this deal is that customers are eligible for the free Hulu account even if they’ve been longtime T-Mobile customers or already have a Hulu account. 

You’ll have to cancel your existing Hulu subscription and wait until the end of your billing period to redeem T-Mobile’s offer. Still, the only thing better than watching Abbot Elementary, Love Story, and Shōgun is watching them for free. You can activate T-Mobile’s free Hulu subscription in super simple steps via the T-Life app under the add-ons menu.

How I rated this deal 

This deal is excellent, especially when you consider the bundle of free Hulu, free Netflix, and $3 Apple TV included in your phone plan. It’s always a smart idea to keep a close watch for benefits from providers you already enroll with, like your mobile, internet, and TV providers. And with cold weather leading to cozy nights indoors, this deal is a great way to level up on entertainment at no additional cost.

For years, location permissions have been a bit of a mess on Android. You open an app, it asks for your location, and you’re suddenly making a decision: While using the app? Always? Precise? Approximate? Most of us just tap something and move on, half-aware that we might be sharing more than we need to. With Android 17, that finally changes. It shifts the decision to the exact moment you actually need it. This actually changes everything.

The new location button keeps things simple

The new feature is called the location button. Instead of handing over your location to an app indefinitely, you now get a simple, dedicated button for it. Let’s say you’re trying to find a café nearby. You tap the button, the app gets your precise location for that moment, does what it needs to do, and that’s where it ends. It also reduces those annoying permission pop-ups. Once you allow access for that particular action, the app does not keep asking you again and again.

And if you are someone who occasionally wonders, “wait, is something tracking me right now?”, this update will feel reassuring. Android 17 introduces a persistent indicator that shows up whenever an app, not the system, is using your location. You can tap it to instantly see which apps have recently accessed your location, and revoke permissions right there if something feels off. There is also a thoughtful upgrade to how approximate location works. Earlier, Android used a fixed grid to blur your location, which was not always as private as it sounded, especially in quieter areas. Privacy should not depend on where you live, and this finally feels like a step in the right direction.

Permission prompts that don’t feel like a test anymore

The old permission dialogs could be confusing, to say the least. Android 17 gives them a fresh redesign, making options like Precise vs. Approximate location much easier to understand.

The update also gets something important: not every app needs to track you all the time. Sometimes, you just want to share your location once and move on with your day.
