Audi has introduced a mid-cycle refresh of the Q4 e-tron for the 2027 model year, and it’s now a more compelling option if you like the Porsche Macan Electric’s compact EV formula but are willing to trade performance for comfort and value.
The upgraded SUV still comes in conventional and coupe-like Sportback bodies, but now has a reworked exterior that Audi claims is “more modern” between its short overhangs, wider stance, and color-matched faux grille. You’ll also find new light “signatures” for the front daytime running lights as well as more “dynamic” second-generation OLED tail lights.
However, the technological upgrades are the stars. A more efficient motor system now lets the Q4 Sportback e-tron performance trim offer up to 368 miles of range on an 83 kWh battery in WLTP testing (EPA estimates will be more conservative), with similar improvements across the line. This is also the first Audi to provide bi-directional charging. You can power external devices or even your home, making it a better choice for camping trips and blackouts.
Charging is only slightly faster at 185kW (in all-wheel drive quattro models) versus last year’s 175 kW, but that’s still enough to charge from 10% to 80% in a relatively quick 27 minutes. The Sportback can add as much as 115 miles of range in 10 minutes.

Panoramic display tech is part of the redesign
Audi claims an “all-new” interior for the 2027 Q4 e-tron that both maintains the marque’s comfort focus and improves the technology inside.
All configurations have a panoramic display that combines an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.8-inch infotainment panel, while an optional 12-inch front passenger screen helps with apps and entertainment. An augmented reality (AR) heads-up display is also an option.
Like other Volkswagen Group cars, you can expect revised software that includes a fresh assistant with more natural ChatGPT voice requests. You’ll get a new center console with two wireless phone charging pads. For comfort, you now get “dynamic interaction” lighting and a more premium, spacious look.

It should be easier to justify over a Macan
Audi hasn’t yet announced U.S. pricing and availability for the 2027 Q4 e-tron, but the European details should provide some clues as to what to expect.
The electric SUV will start at 47,500 Euros (about $55,678) for a base rear-wheel drive model with a 63 kWh battery, while its Sportback equivalent begins at 49,450 Euros (about $57,964). Move to the 82 kWh battery and you’ll pay 53,500 Euros ($62,711) for the regular Q4 and 55,450 Euros ($64,996) for the Sportback.
Going with all-wheel drive hikes the respective prices to 55,900 Euros ($65,524) and 59,000 Euros ($69,163). Orders for European customers start in May, with deliveries expected in the summer.
Pricing makes the choice obvious
It’s too soon to say how this will translate to an American release, but the 2026 Q4 e-tron starts at $50,600 while the Sportback comes in at $59,000.
Given that a Porsche Macan Electric starts at $82,650, your decision remains simple: the Audi will be a better bargain if you can give up Porsche’s sportiness in favor of not just more range (the Macan gets ‘just’ 315 miles), but a more competitive interior design.
