If you’re a fan of Makita’s expansive power tool ecosystem or deploy it daily on a jobsite, you likely have a huge collection of tools and battery packs. For those who have all the tools they’ll ever need, Makita is set to release several capable new accessories in 2026 that are worth waiting for.
Makita 40V max XGT 8.0Ah High Power Battery
A new tabless cell technology for more power and efficiency
Earlier this year, Makita announced that at least four all-new battery packs were on the way in 2026. And while you’ll see various sizes and platforms get new options, the most exciting addition is the new 40V max XGT 8.0Ah (BL4080H) High Power Battery.
Similar to the latest Milwaukee or Ryobi EDGE battery packs, Makita’s new Max XGT High Power Battery uses a new and improved tabless cell design. Why does that matter? Well, it delivers up to 35% more power, is more efficient, and runs up to 30% cooler than older generations. As a result, you’ll get more power and runtime from the same 8.0 Ah battery capacity.
This new battery pack is one of the most powerful options in the entire Makita lineup, and you’ll want to use it on any of the 150+ tools in the XGT platform. Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact release date, but keep an eye out for it along with three new 9Ah and 12Ah 18V battery packs.

Recharge battery packs for the entire crew with ease
While Makita already offers multi-port chargers for all your battery packs, professionals often need more. Thankfully, in 2026, Makita is finally ready to answer that call with two all-new multi-port charging cases.
You’ll get to choose between a 40V max XGT 8-Port Charging Case, which can store and charge eight battery packs. Or, go big for the entire build crew with the 40V max XGT 12-Port Charging Case. Unfortunately, these were announced only in Japan, so we don’t even have a landing page for the U.S. website yet. Makita confirmed they’ll both arrive sometime in 2026.
It’s important to note that the case charges only four battery packs at a time, and once those are full, it’ll rotate to the next bay. Basically, it won’t charge 8–12 simultaneously, but it’ll still be immensely helpful. It also doubles as storage, works with the MakTrak modular storage system, and is built to handle tough conditions. Oh, and it’ll probably be very expensive.

Makita’s modular storage system is getting better
Makita is a few years behind the wildly popular Milwaukee PACKOUT storage system, or even the Ryobi LINK, but what the company has released so far is absolutely excellent. Whether you buy the Makita Maktrak rolling tool chest at Home Depot or any of the stackable and modular add-ons from other retailers, the system is very capable and rugged.
One thing that makes Makita’s system different from Milwaukee’s is the focus on larger platforms, rather than building everything into a super-tall vertical stack of trays, boxes, and tool storage systems.
Makita’s are a bit wider, and the company confirmed it has countless new MakTrak modular systems on the way for 2026, new storage bins, and additional accessories or dividers to ensure users have plenty of customization options. I’m talking about better lids, MOLLE panels, and smaller storage bins for each MakTrak box to improve organization. Sadly, we don’t have release dates for these either.

1,200 lumens that are perfect for any jobsite
Next on our list is another lighting solution from Makita. As you know, they’re no stranger to all sorts of LED lighting gear, but this new model looks pretty neat.
Announced at the end of February (on Facebook, of all places) and available in the coming weeks, the all-new Makita 40V max XGT Magnetic Light (ML013G) will be an accessory that everyone wants. Whether you’re a DIYer, an enthusiast who works out of the garage, or a professional, this light is packed with helpful features.
The new Magnetic Light features an array of powerful magnetic bars on the bottom, ensuring it’ll securely attach to any metal surface and give you convenient, hands-free light for any job. It’s compact, lightweight, rotates and twists to shine wherever it’s needed, and there’s even a diffusing lens to reduce glare or shadows.
Then, something I haven’t seen in most of the competition is a built-in battery capacity function that dims the LEDs slowly as power gets low—rather than instantly shutting off—potentially leaving you in the dark. Now that’s neat.
Makita XGT All-electric Motor Unit
Turn old gas-powered tools into electric models
Earlier this year, at the World of Concrete 2026 tradeshow, Makita announced its next-generation gas-replacement solution. It’s called the 40V max XGT Motor Unit, and it’s designed to instantly slot into the same space that previously housed a gas engine. That way, you can transform older tools into modern, powerful, 40V options instead of replacing them entirely.
My first thought was to turn it into a GoKart motor, but everyone else will want to use it for tools. This is a big deal because the company discontinued production of its expansive collection of gas engine products a few years ago, and now you can buy this to keep those old tools running and in service.
All you need is the motor unit and a few 40V battery packs, and you’re all set. Additionally, this blends its new, modern cordless power tool line with those from the good old days. Pricing isn’t available yet, and it’ll launch later this summer.
In closing, these are just a few of the many new tools, accessories, battery packs, and other products coming soon from Makita in 2026. Another honorable mention is the Power Cutter Cart, which turns most handheld power cutters into a rolling powerhouse.
