Google has started rolling out its previously teased Pixel Drop feature update for June 2026 alongside the release of Android 17, and it’s big news if you’ve wanted to generate more than just still images using Gemini — or if you’re simply a heavy multitasker.
The new release gives you the options to generate videos using Google’s all-encompassing Gemini Omni model and music through Lyria 3. You just need a prompt to produce a gag clip or the soundtrack for your latest social post. You’ll need at least a Gemini Pro subscription ($20 per month) for Omni, but Lyria 3 is available to everyone using a Pixel with Android 17.

The Pixel Drop also marks the arrival of Bubbles, Google’s take on Samsung-style floating app windows. While you can only see one bubble at a time, this makes it easy to quickly pop into an app (such as a browser or navigation tool) without task switching or dealing with a cramped split-screen view. On foldable Pixels, you’ll also get a Bubble Bar that helps organize those quick-fire apps.
Google is also catering to everyone who likes to create TikTok-style (or YouTube Shorts-style) reaction videos. You can now bake selfie videos directly into screen recordings on any Android 17 phone, so you won’t need another app to go viral.
AirDrop and call translation reach more Pixel phones
You no longer need a Pixel 10 to use major features
Google is simultaneously using the June 2026 Pixel Drop to expand existing features to more of its devices. To start, Quick Share’s support for Apple AirDrop is now available on Pixel 8a and 9a phones around the world. Live phone call translation through Voice Translate is also available on the Pixel 10a, so you won’t need a higher-end device to understand different languages.
Magic Cue’s information suggestions are coming to more messaging apps, including Instagram, Snapchat, and Telegram. While you’ll still need a Pixel 10 or higher in certain countries and languages, this could help surface a flight schedule or relevant photo right when you need it.
Two existing features are coming to more regions. Conversational image editing in Google Photos is now available in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, letting you describe the changes you want. The Manual Call Screen feature, meanwhile, is ready to thwart spam calls in India for Pixel 10 and higher models.
